If you ran it dry of diesel it will need bled, it can take a long time to bleed/ be difficult to start - how did you know the filter is full? - if it is because you took it off, the system will need bled again, without a hand primer pump or a bulb the system is bled by cranking the engine, the battery is liable to go flat before the system is bled and the engine starts - so its a good idea to have a powerful booster/ jump leads + nother battery or car, or some way of keeping the battery charge up (even if its a mains "trickle" charger)

There is a "knack" to cranking the car to bleed it, - you should crank it for longer than normal, but not so much the battery goes flat or the starter motor burns out

It has been known that some owners have taken the glow plugs out (to make it easier to crank) or added a bulb primer, another trick is putting a clear pipe on the return (to see when its bled) - but filling the filter should be sufficient (but it will take a lot of cranking/ battery will probably need assistance)

Did the key fob work before?

The battery may have gone flat in the remote key fob, it just means you have to put the key in the drivers door to unlock it, the car should still start as normal,

if the engine attempts to start but just never fires, then its not immobiliser. if you turn the key and it doesnt even engage the starter then it may be immobiliser!

Or the cars' battery is flat, or something else is wrong
