Hi Guys.

Im just wondering about my RPM. Only reason is because my girlfriend has a 2002 Focus and in 5th gear at 80mph her RPM is 3.2 and mine runs at 3.8 I understand there is 6yra difference between them. But odd question... is there a way of bringing that down?

Hers is also an Automatic and mine is Manual

Cheers

Ed

Thats a bit high i think can you bring it down no unless you slow down ill check after 8pm on my way home what the rpm is i know 60 is 2800 rpm 70 is around 3000 rpm if im right 3.2 is about right for 80mph mines a manual too otherwise it suggests the clutch may be slipping

Hmmm so 3.8 is high? Ive never felt the clutch slipping at all

When I got my Focus last year I noticed 70mph was running at 3.2, my old 1.4 Escort seemed to be a straight 3.0 at 70mph,

I thought it seemed high, 3.8 for 80mph sounds similar to my Mk2.5 1.6.

I would love to have a 6th gear to cruise at 2.5, surely that would help fuel economy and the environment etc etc....

Also have a 2.5 1.6 Focus. So it seems thats the norm for these models?

Id love to have a 6th gear too but that's way expensive to do

My friend who used to own a C-MAX 1.6 Ti VCT 115bhp (same engine as my Zetec S) said it was similar to his at 70mph,

A quick Google search suggests 3200rpm @ 70mph is about right for a 1.6 Focus, many are asking the same question.

All the good RPM's are on 6 Gear Diesels.

Awesome thanks for the help! :-)

our 1.8 tdci sits around the 3.2 area in top gear (manual)

Ill post up after my drive home but im sure its lower than 3800 rpm but i will double check all the zetec engines are naturally high revving engines like i say ill double check as i may be wrong

Thanks mate
