Cigarette Lighter

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I need a new cigarette lighter, I'd prefer one that light up.

I have looked on ebay and amazon and couldn't find one that will fit my car.

My car is a Focus Zetec 2008 with the new facelift.

I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me find one.

I would rather not going to ford and order one, as it wont light up and it will cost.

Thanks

RiDER

First of all, thanks for looking into it.

I am talking about a UK focus. And i dont think these will fit.

Is it for the front socket on the console or the one under the armrest?

It's for the console, just behind the gear stick.

Also, is it possible to change the 'console'? Because mine is quite dirty.

Thank you

The front socket fits into a plastic ring that is bigger than a standard (illuminated/non-illuminated) one.

Ford do not stock an illuminated ring to fit that hole unfortunately.

You can replace the console top easily.

Two screws on the front lip of the storage bin under the armrest.

Remove the handbrake cover by lifting from where you removed the screws.

Unclip the gearstick surround from the side near the lighter socket and unscrew the gear knob.

Remove the screw in the centre of the cup holder tray.

Lift the top console trim from the rear to unclip it.

As you lift the trim reach under the front socket and pull the wiring plug off.

Fit replacement in reverse.

You need a torx screwdriver for the screws.

Plenty of console parts on ebay.

They are the same size as the standard Ford illuminated surround.

But it doesnt fit. That's the one I have. Its a bit loose. Am i missing something here?

Do you want a screenshot to help you?

Thank you

The chromed plastic ring on the front socket is about 4mm larger than any illuminated socket on the market.

It was made larger so it could fit the power start button found on higher spec models.

I fitted one made by Ring.its a double outlet with a usb I use for my phone charging.

It's located in the compartment in front of gear lever.

Also it lights up.

^ I dont have the chrome plastic ring that goes on it. Can I buy one off eBaY?

Edit:

Is this the chrome plastic ring? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Ford-Cigarette-Lighter-Base-Focus-Mondeo-Fiesta-/160589873841?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2563e702b1

This is the chrome ring you need-

Available from Ford for about £9 (yeh I know, for a plastic ring!)

Take the Finis code (in the red box on the picture) to a Ford dealers parts counter.
