Halfrauds - do people in the know still actually use em?

Ever since I found Andrew Watt Car Parts i havent looked back the only place cheaper is the scrappie.

And the staff know their MAF from their elbow!

Have Halfrauds changed then?

Its been 10 years or more since I entered that orange whopper of a store lol!

Their tools are alright for the money, usually no quibbles on warranty either.

Ive bought a few batteries from them too, no issues there either.

i still buy bulbs from them as they work out cheap on trade and with the store being a stone throw from my house it’s convenient.

Havent bought a tool in about 20 years - my old dads 4 car garage has just about every tool under the sun from mig welders to engine hoists he even dug his own inspection pit and built his own car lift from old bits he found in the local cowp, there is even an old converted vacuum cleaner he used as a car spray - we didnt have much money in the 60's so he built everything himself , even built his first garage at his dads house - he was some man. Working on cars now isnt as much fun its really just a necessity for me now. Still havent had the heart to clear the garage out its still got his Jensen Interceptor, Opel Manta B SR, Lotus Excel Eclat and E Type Jag (Canary Yellow lol) sitting rusting its a real shame!

The garage is even fully carpetted believe it or not and double glazed with his own central heating system installed.
Everything in it is self built including all the tool racks , cupboard and workbenches - I have to work on my cars outside on the driveway lol

All the old names for tools as well - they dinny ken me when I talk about mole grips and cummels lol

I assume the Halford's guy who said I needed to use an app to get a new discount code as the card no longer works was talking out of his orifice. Gave me 10% discount in the end and was supposed to email a receipt along with a 5 quid voucher which incidentally never came through. I can't see anything on here that states the discount card has been changed.

Can someone confirm please he was talking ***** so I know for future ref.

Should add never had issues before even thigh I often had to tell staff how to use it and work out the discount for them. But as I haven't been on here for a long time didn't really question it.

Been to swap my snow foam gun that was faulty. And the manager woman I spoke to tried scanning the card and their system indeed asks for a voucher code to apply the discount. She showed me on the screen that it asks for a voucher code. So confused at the moment until someone can confirm if this is now an issue and we need some other way to use the discount. I was a premium member for several years and never had any issues using my discount card in the past.

Halfords refused my card last weekend telling me the "coupon code" was expired.
Anyone else had an issue with this?  Big savings lost there.

Halfords did the same to me today saying ''i need a voucher'' and to contact the Ford owners club about it. Can anyone please clarify whats going on? it was fine a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks.

Just done a live chat with Halfords. It seems we need a discout code along with the card. Does anybody happen to know the code we need.

Thanks in advance.

Errm am I missing something here?

I can't see the link you are referring to even a search brings up a thousand results but not the one I want.

Confused, although surprised this thread resurrect has gone unanswered by board staff given that the forum premium members pay to help the site as I did for several years.

Unless you can only see that link as a supporter. I am happy to pay for supporter status again but wanted to ensure I wasn't going to have the same issue. Really ought to be a bit clearer, as when I looked at premium membership it still mentions the discount card and no hint they old cars are no longer valid.

Yes only supporters can see the link. the website needs updating somewhere for people to know this has happened rather than looking like a tool in the shop!!

Halfords have recently updated their discount system and this has affected certain older discount cards which now have an expired barcode.
We are advising Members who have an active Premium Membership and signed up before 1st March 2021 to apply for a new barcode via the link in the Announcement which is available to Premium Members only.

Sick of Damn Halfords, I make an appointment for a fitting, unfortunately you can no longer speak directly with the store, even though the website will have you believe you ARE speaking to the store, your call is actually diverted to some prat who doesn't care in South Africa.  They will tell you you can make an appointment  for a certain date, but as someone at store told me South African call centre diary doesn't sync with theirs.

Same also applies when you do click and collect.

I ripped up my Halfords discount card, the idiots that work their couldnt organise the proverbial, and they are not properly trained how to do auto repairs or fittings.

(NO Halfords you don't piggy back a dashcam on a powertrain fuse)

How long dose it take to get the new barcode?

The membership pack which you should have received at the end of March includes the new Halfords card (starts with 7 and ends in 71)

A new card has been dispatched to you and you should receive it shortly
