Interior Light Upgrade. Another Thread With Another Problem

Featured Replies

Hello there I want to upgrade my interior front light to map light. I've bought one from eBay but only to realise that it's got two electric feeds? My car only has the one plug? Why the two feeds? One for centre and one for the sides? I don't want to do any wiring as I'm not food at all so if anyone who lives close by..... I'm in Farnborough who fancies to give me a hand would be much appreciated. Here is a picture of it front and back.

many thanks

Your car should have the correct wiring.

The side with two pins are for manual non ignition feed (centre switch fully to the right) and map lights and the other feed is for the courtesy setting when opening doors/ignition switching off and exiting car.

Have you taken the existing light out and checked the connections yet?

I would be very surprised if the light isn't a straight swap.

So it should fit then because I have taken mine out in the a while ago and had a look but likeni said there is only one plug and with this one I have posted about there are two sets of electronic pins? Why would there be two? If I've got one plug and it's only goes in one and the other one is free. There wouldnt be two sets of pins for no reason right?

There are only two plugs but one will have two contacts on it.

Oh right I get you know. Well my car only has the one plug in the ceiling panel so I'll try it out and I'll post results in the morning.

I'd say if you've only got 1 plug in the headliner then maybe your car doesn't have the wiring you need?

If all cars get the wiring then it's likely the extra feed is there but tucked away in the headliner with a bit of foam round it to stop it rattling. May even be taped back to the wiring that you have already found.

There has to be a double plug on one side and a single on the other or else the existing courtesy light would not work correctly.

Trust me, the correct wiring is there.

This is what you should see when you pull the other light out-

If you don't then I will be very surprised indeed.

Hello all... Results in. I was looking at the wrong electronic feeds in the light assembly. I was looking at the bronze with the numbers written on it. I thought it looked funny. It's installed which took about 30 seconds and works! Now I need LEDs to make them brighter. And choices for maximum brightness? Thanks for your help :)
