If its a new car keep taking it back to the dealer, if he cannot fix it demand a refund.

If its only 1 month old you are well and truly in your rights to take it back and reject the car.

Obvious suspect is the alternator. Maybe first take it to an independent garage that knows what they are talking about and get them to do a charge test on it (but don't have any work done) then get back to the dealer.

I'd try a different dealer

Sometimes these cars are built and sat in a yard for a very long time without been started and this can cause issues with the battery cells. It could be a simple solution as changing the battery.

As the Ecoboost Fiesta has a start/stop system, the battery is quite big, around 60Ah I think. As Aden said if the car has been sitting around for a long time it will take quite a while to fully charge.

The dealer should sort this out straight away, firstly checking the car's charging system, if this is working correctly then fully charge the battery on a decent quality battery charger until it shows fully charged state.

If the problem persists and the battery doesn't hold its charge then the battery should be changed by the dealer.

If the battery is not fully charged the stop/start system should not operate.

That's a good point actually. A fully discharged battery can have it's plates damaged and won't hold its charge and has to be replaced.

Put your reg number into Ford Etis and compare the build and registration dates. It's possible the battery has been allowed to go completely flat.

If you want you can PM me your reg tomorrow and I can check it on Ecat for ya.

We have several brand new ford galaxys on our fleet and had to change the battery under warranty at only 300miles from new.

The garage put new battery in only took 2 days and it was discharging again but thanks anyway.

If the dealer is been an a**e about it then maybe get in touch with FordUK about the issue. As a customer you should be treated better.
