Aircon/windows Down

Featured Replies

Dear All,

Slightly confused with this...not sure if its me or it is actually happening...

So, as the weather has been nice the last few months I've started to have the windows down more and more. But by opening the windows I have noticed a draft coming through all for vents inside the car- as soon as I do the window up the draft from the vent stops. (I know what you lot are probably thinking, you're getting a draft because the windows open) I can assure you it is definitely an aircon cold breeze. Very confused and it is quite annoying?

Anyone else having this problem. Please let me know if its a fault?

Many thanks

James Squire

Hey. I have always noticed a stronger 'draft' coming from the vents in all my cars when the window or sunroof is open. I think its a vacuum effect caused when the car is moving.

Vacuum?? Personally I'd say the air coming out of the vents is cooler than the outside and thus more noticeable is all.

Yes vacuum. Just like in a plane when the door is open and everything rushes out (difference in air pressure), therefore sucking the air through the car faster.

It is very annoying whatever it is, it certainly feels as if I have the AC on? Is it a fault that Ford can sort out?

Cheers guys
