Bent Alloy Rims

Featured Replies

I have bent 3 alloy rims in the last 5 years, and have had to replace them. They were the 7 spoke 16" with 195 45 profile tyres. Does anyone know if the new 16" wheels are stronger that are fitted on the 2013 Zetec fiestas. I know they are 50 profile, but think they are worth changing.

Your speedometer will be slightly off if you change to 195/50 instead of 195/45, but it's probably not enough to be a huge deal - just want to throw it in there.

I don't know if the new alloys are stronger, but I've heard the 17" ones should be better than the old 17", so it's probably the same for 16"

The newer wheels are a lot better but as NQbbe says the tyre profiles are different on the newer models

On a side note you could just get the newer rims, and keep your current tyres - they'll fit, and your speedometer won't change a bit. (This is also cheaper than buying new tyres as well)
