Any Etis Experts In Here ? (Got A Pcm Update Available)

Featured Replies

I just checked ETIS for my car, and it says an update is available for the powertrain control module (PCM) - does anyone know what these kind of updates contain ?

Or in other words: Is it worth it to go to a garage and get the update ?

PCM is Ford's name for the ECU.

It greatly improved the drive-ability of my car when I had one done.

The problem is Ford will not do it unless they are fixing a problem or you are paying them for the privilege.

alexp999: How did it improve the drive-ability ? (for instance turbo lag, low-end torque or similar?)

The reason I'm considering getting it done, is because of turbo lag - but of course there's no guarantee it'll change that.

Increased and stabilised throttle response. Totally different engine though.

I was pretty unhappy with how unpredictably the car drove and when I saw a pcm update for the car spoke to ford about it and they agreed to do it under warranty.

I was having issues with getting either too much power or not enough, pretty dangerous trying to cross a busy a road and the car decides to give you no power.

Yeah I can see how that should get covered by warranty - my "issue" probably won't.

And I agree it's very dangerous to drive with unpredictable power.
