Mk 2 Focus Auto Transmission Fault - Information Request

Hi Everyone,

I am new here, just taken ownership of a Ford Focus 55 plate Auto 1.6. I know this isn't a technical helpline, but I thought it was worth asking if any other owners have had this kind of issue.

The battery has been flat for sometime,

Just replaced the battery with a new one, everything starts fine car drives ok, but the transmission is showing as a transmission fault on the dash, and the fan is running all the time, the gearbox display doesn't seem to show if it is in drive neutral etc and the gearbox symbol flashes. when the veh is stationary and you put the veh into park drive etc, all changes but the vehicle lurches.

We have driven the vehicle a little previously after jump starting the car once before and this fault went away and the fan stopped all was fine, with the car, but since it has sat again for 3 weeks and the battery gone flat again, we have fitted the new one and this issue is there again.

I am wondering if this is normal when a battery has been flat and replaced and has anyone else experienced this kind of issue, before I go spending huge amounts of money with Ford trying to get to the bottom of the problem, if its just a case of driving it. This is the newest car I have ever owned, so I am a little concerned, any comments regarding others experience would be most helpful.

Many thanks for reading.
