marduk
I bought a Zetec TDCi today but it only came with one key which is a 3 button flip key. I had no idea getting a spare could be so complicated and expensive until I just started searching. What's the cheapest and easiest way to go about getting a spare? I'm not sure exactly what is involved in making it work properly. Thanks.
Stoney871
Buy a spare complete key off eBay and ring some local auto locksmiths for cutting/coding quotes. You'd be looking at £150+ from Ford. marduk
Thanks for the quick reply. Is this the correct type and is this a reasonable price for one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-3-BUTTON-UNCUT-FLIP-REMOTE-KEY-FOB-for-FORD-FOCUS-MONDEO-CMAX-FIESTA-/331149537650?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item4d1a0cf172
Stoney871
It doesn't state that there is an immobiliser chip in the key. I'd say this one was a better bet- http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=321362311146&alt=web Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
marduk
Thanks, I'll go for that one instead. It says it's compatible with Fiesta '08 - '10, will it still be okay for an 11 plate?
Stoney871
As long as the blade is correct and the fob is the same as you have already then you should have no problems. Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
MattDRX
Timpson do transponder keys quite cheap. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app
Stoney871
Timpson do transponder keys quite cheap. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app Indeed they do but they clone the transponder rather than creating a standalone spare key. This can cause problems if the ECU throws a wobbly. MattDRX
I thought they had the Bosch machine and they can find all the codes and they program them from scratch? Never used them just seen the machine and thought that. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Ford OC mobile app

MattJakeT
Local ford garage sold me the fiesta with one key. Said they would do me a spare for free however the machine has been suspiciously broken for over a month.. Stoney871
When they say the machine is broken they are definitely talking cobblers. They call out local auto locksmiths themselves. A guy I use does all the keys for my local Dealers, they supply the keys and he does the work and then they charge you for the honour.
