04 Fiesta Fails To Start

Featured Replies

Hey,

I tried to start up my Fiesta this morning and got nothing, ignition gives me only the oil light on dash (Looks like a genie lamp?) The engine doesn't even attempt to start. I hear a noise form behind the glove box when i turn the ignition on "tick tick tick tick and a small "mmmmm" groan" then nothing.

All lights are work but dim (may be due to sun though), radio tried to come on but only for a seconds, windows very slow. everything in the car seems to want to work though.

any ideas?

About to try a jump start and see what happens.

Edit:

We attached the battery to another car and everything worked fine, we then tried to start the car up on its own and it failed again.

We then jumped it again and noticed a solid orange engine light (On speedo) I took it for a quick 2 min drive and performed fine but the light remained.

Waited 5 minutes and just tried to start the car and it started fine but the orange light remained, I turned off/on another 2 times but the orange light is no longer there.

Now it seems fine...

I took it to Ford 2 weeks ago for traffic light test, that said battery is fine.

I'm confused, it ran with no issues 2 days ago (I didn't drive it for 24 hours) I didn't leave light on etc afaik but even then It should have given me something before it failed, this just done nothing!

SOS!

I drove it to work with no issues, but when I started it up again to go home, the engine wouldn't start but at least this time it had a good go at it, I turned it off and waiting a min and gave it another go and it started (had to give it some acceleration though - done this on first attempt too)

When I was having my first issues trying to start during my jump starts I heard some sort of noise (sounded like a machine gun firing) under the bonnet near the steering wheel area when it was trying to start.

Sorry if I'm not making sense, but some weird stuff is happening :s
