No Sound From My Iphone 5S

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

If I connect my iPhone via USB I get all the info on the display, but no sound. I can connect the 3.5 jack and I can get sound but no info.

I read that there was an update to allow it to use just the lightning cable, but all the links are dead.

Is there any way to do this now, or am I stuck? Its a Sony branded unit in the Titanium.

Cheers

As far as I know the support for the (Focus MK2.5 and early Focus MK3) Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system is discontinued. All of the Ford website that listed/hosted the update files do not exist anymore.

I searched my computer and found the latest update files which were released back in November 2012. I uploaded the update files. You can download the files by the following link:

Hi JW,

Didn't work :( Says no files on usb when I extract them to the root of C:\.

Gutted as I want to use the proper Iphone cable.

Thanks anyway

You have to make sure first the USB drive is formatted as the FAT32 filesystem. After the rar archive containing the update files is extracted to a local harddrive on your computer you can open the "ford_audio_update" folder. Now you must copy only the files containing your language to the root of the USB drive. For English these are the following files:

8M5T-14D511-AV.bvc

8M5T-14D511-AV.vbf

The other files are releasenotes and update files for other languages.

After the correct files are transferred to the USB drive the USB drive can be removed from the computer. Now you have to switch the radio on without switching on the ignition (1 HOUR mode). Next you have to insert the USB drive into the USB slot of the car and switch the ignition on. Now the update should start. The complete update proces takes about half an hour.

I updated at least 25 Bluetooth/Voicecontrol modules using these update files. Sometimes it takes several attemps before the update proces starts. Also note that some USB drives are not suitable to update the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module.
