mixmasterlooney
What a lovely looking rs what a shame. I would have to agree with James, rs parts are worth big money, looms, lights, turbo, revo knuckles, they'd get 10 grand of parts in no time and that's good enough for a thief. I'm always completely baffled how cars like these are stolen Sent from my GT-N7105 using Ford OC mobile app
jeebowhite
I presume it was a key job or an obd hack... Sent from my L900 using Ford OC mobile app

James West Mids
SecureMyCar showed me the OBD hack at FordFair. It was scary just how quickly it takes. Anyway, here's what I bought 5 door ST in red - looks like a family hatchback which I'm hoping will help deter thieves. I've also bought a Viper alarm and OBD port immobilisation package from Anthony @ SecureMyCar.com. He's done a good job. :) It'll keep me happy until we move home then I can get another RS :D
jeebowhite
very nice! How much was the security kit? and what exactly is the OBD Immobilisation package? :p
James West Mids
very nice! How much was the security kit? and what exactly is the OBD Immobilisation package? :P The full package was £550 + £75 for remote engine start for the cold winter mornings. The OBD port, I believe, is where a garage may plug into to run diagnostics on your car. Unfortunately, it can also be used to disable the standard Ford alarm / gain access to your car and take off with it. On the Ford Focus, it's located just underneath the steering wheel on the right side. SecureMyCar have immobilised that port meaning when the Viper alarm is activated, that port is completed locked down and therefore cannot be used by thieves to access your car. How effective this is, I have no idea. B)
jeebowhite
thanks James, yeah I knew about the OBD I was just confused how it could be locked :p but its a great configuration for the alarm :) And the remote start is good, but does it also incorporate a runlock system?
James West Mids
thanks James, yeah I knew about the OBD I was just confused how it could be locked :p but its a great configuration for the alarm :) And the remote start is good, but does it also incorporate a runlock system? Yeah. When I use the remote start, the car remains locked, alarmed and immobilised. Should anyone enter the car, as soon as they touch one of the pedals, the car shuts down. As I said, great system and would recommend to anyone. Bit pricey but to be fair, after having a car stolen, the security is priceless.
