I have a focus edge 2004 that appears to have a gear box oil leak.

Does anyone know what a garage will charge for fixing this

    depends on where the leak is coming from, if its a simple seal at the gearbox oil filter, your looking at a drain renew which could be anwhere from about £70 up

    Have a 1.6 engine with manual gearbox.

    Will try to get my head under the car to get a better idea of where the leak is coming from. Have checked engine oil which was at a good level which made me think it was gearbox oil

    In the end it was a leak from the rocker box gasket. The oil was just working it's way to the bottom of the engine.

    Cost just under £80 to fix in local garage ( £42 for 1 hours labour plus the part).

    The mechanic says it should be viewed as wear and tear on a 10 year old car.

    Sorry for wrongly describing the problem originally.
