First Car 2009 Zetec 1.25

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just bought my first car, black 1.25 Zetec with 28k,1 lady owner not a bad deal.

think that it's looking a bit boring as it is, anyone got any suggestions about few things I could do to it to make it look just a little more sporty?? Not boy racer just a bit more clean and personal

Cheers.post-56868-140684150131_thumb.jpg

You are limited without it looking chavvy. As it's a 3 door you could try the body kit which is skirts, rear valance and front chin. You may be able to darken the lights and fit some extra interior lighting etc. But don't try and make it something it's not. Slow cars that pretend to be fast are not cool. :)

Maybe some different wheels? Tbh I prefer the wheels off the 2012 Zetec as they are more interesting.

Thanks for replying! Suppose making it look like a zetec s might be fun, but, how much would a kit cost for fitting and colour etc

Looks spot on that!

I think the alloys it comes with are 16" so if I got bigger alloys doesn't it mess with the speedo or something? And the coilovers, are they hard to fit? They look mint

It wont mess with your speedo if you get 205/40 17 tyres (OEM size)..... dont know about coilovers, but springs were no problem to fit (if you have the tools and a car lift).....

So I can get 17" alloys but just change the tires? And Ahhhh what's the difference you done anything to the radio or speakers, or they just standard?

That's not bad for a first car, as others have said I'd go with wheels first. You could try and make it look like a Zetec S with the matching alloys and body kit, but that could get expensive. Maybe better to save up and trade up to a ZS or something else after a while. You might find youself getting bored of the 1.25.

Yes I believe you can swap to the 17" alloys and same size tyres that come with the Zetec S or ST without problems. Although I remember someone mentioned the tyres could rub on the arches on full lock due to them being a bit wider, maybe someone else can clarify that.

Sounds good! Thanks for that, although they are quite expensive for the zetec s alloys!

As above, you will get probably get bored of the 1.25 soon,

I had a Zetec for my first car and it was great, I also wanted it to look better so thought about getting the Zetec S bodykit, Insurance wouldn't let me, plus its expensive getting all the parts (especially from Ford)

Just wait until you get a Zetec S, or Titanium with full dress up kit, or... the ST!

Unless you aren't planning an upgrade, then I suggest looking on ebay for the parts! Tint your windows, upgrade your lights, add wind deflectors, add scuff plates, change interior footwell lights, the things you can do are endless.

Why would he get bored? Just because it's a smaller, less powerful engine doesn't mean it's not going to be as fun. Tbh I would be very happy with his car as a first car, you can't expect anytihng fast.

I know but it's all about the insurance for my first year of driving. just wanted to make it look a bit different.

I am over the moon with it, buzzing to pick it up on Tuesday! Been driving a works van for the past few months and can't wait to get out of it, gonna miss the free fuel and insurance though!

I only fear he will get bored because of the power, no nobody expects a 1.25 to be a Ferrari but near the end of having my Zetec and swapping it for the Titanium, with driving other cars you notice alot. Then again you may not want any more power!

For a first car it is the perfect car though!

I agree to some extent, it's still a MK7 Fiesta which means it's a great handling car and will be fun to drive. If I look back at my first Fiesta which was a MK6 1.4, the newer 1.25 has about the same performance, so putting it into perspective he should be very happy with it as a first car.

Does anyone know any small party tricks the fiesta has? Like when I went to test drive a corsa,(horrible in comparison to the fiesta ) the salesman held the unlock button on the key and the windows came down, anything like that?

I was just going to suggest the window global opening, I don't know if it will have it, but you can try by unlocking it then holding in the unlock button for at least 5 or 6 seconds to see if the windows go down.
