hi all,

Currently a corsa 1.4 2011 owner and about to look around at fiesta"s for approx 8k. Obviously limited to the older style engines at this price but just curious as to what you all think would be the sweetest sounding engine for this price range,Reason i ask is that i have found all my recent vauxhalls (1/4 / 1.6) start sounding rough around 35k+ miles.All serviced properly etc but all start getting tappety / squeaks etc. Ive had fords from the past and have put hefty miles on some models and have been great.Been with VX for 10 yrs and now fancy a change back to ford (also many recommendations from fiesta owners).So the question is which engine is mechanically the best...

    1.6 Ecoboost no question. Although for that budget unsure. May be best to run the Vx into hell and save some more / wait for better specs to become cheaper

    I would say the ecoboost 1.0L, or the ST, some of the older engines are not as refined as those

    at 10k a year you might be better off with a diesel (for the MPG) but it will not be as refined as the petrol engines above- if that is the main criterion
