Tracking Arm End

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Just took my Mark 1 to my local Kwik fit who have said that the tracking arm end needs replacing. They can't budge it to do my tracking they say. The warming it up trick doesn't work they say. I sat there and I don't remember seeing a gas torch being used. Not has other people in past had trouble persuading it to move.

The car has just turned over 153k miles though.

A ploy to screw another 50 quid out of me or honest possibility/ I'm going to take the car else where and see if the tracking can be done.

If it is legit and it needs replacing, is it something that can be down on a drive way? How does a track rod adjust? I presume that the rod on the hub assembly and the rod on the steering side have threaded ends that are joined by a threaded sleeve over the two?

I'm trying to get it working right before trying to sell it and would rather not be mugged off and throw money into a potential pit.

Cheers ;)
