Just bought a fiesta titanium 125 ecoboost. Goes well. Never had a 3 pot before so not sure what to expect. For example when I look at the engine it shakes a bit on tickover compared to a four pot. Is this normal?

Any other things to look out for would be helpful

I guess it would be normal for it to shake more, just because being a 3-cylinder it's unbalanced. That also makes it sound better, a bit like a V6 :)

Yea - expected it to shake a bit being a 3 pot but how much is "normal" I wonder. Also wonder what Ford have done to try and dampen the shakes? Has it a balancer shaft or some tie bar ? Someone on the site is sure to know? :)

No idea about cars but the Ecoboosts do make weird noises and mine shakes slightly just as you have described.

They used an unbalanced flywheel and some beefy engine mounts.That is probably why it shakes it a bit, but the mounts should stop it transmitting too much.

I'm surprised the noise some of the ecoboosts make on tickover with the bonnet open, almost sound like small diesels.
