Zetec Sport 2.0 163 Tdci Powershift (2014)

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

New to the forum and guess there will be a great deal of advice and information.

Last week I had an almost brand new Ford Focus Zetec 163 Sport 2.0 TDCI powershift delivered,

I bought it from a Macklin motors branch in Scotland, as I understand it the official MPG combined should be 54 MPG and real (estimated) should be 40 MPG

The car was used as a demo from new, when I bought it it had 3500 miles, It was driven all the way from Scotland to Buckinghamshire which is almost 400 miles, I then took it on a 70 mile all round trip down the M25 and M11 then back home, it's been around town a bit too so it's had a good "Drive"

My question is it's showing an average of 38MPG, I have no hand book which I need to buy so I am unsure if there is anything wrong with it, should the MPG be a lot higher ? 38MPG seems quite crap.

What's the difference between the combined and real MPG ? what do they mean, I would have thought doing all the motorway driving should have given it a better MPG.

The only thing I can think is because the car has been used as a demo for a good 6 months could the injectors be clogged ? It has not had a good drive till the last week.

Thanks

Are you not able to reset the average mpg figure, I'm getting roughly 38mpg from my 1.6 petrol cmax, so would of expected you to get a figure higher then that

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Ford OC mobile app

My on board computer shows around 45MPG in my manual 2.0 TDCi 163PS, I would expect the Powershift to be lower.

I have gone as low as 38MPG over winter when only doing town driving though....

Thanks for the reply, it's my first nice car as my other is an old Clio, it states on different websites that the combined should be 52mpg but also states real as 40mpg, I guess the combined of 52 is a load of crap but the real is what you really get out of it.

Thanks again.

Have you tried resetting the trip to make sure it is not using old data for the average?

That was one of the things I was going to do, I'm on holiday and back next week, I need to buy a manual, any idea where I can get a book from ?

Cheers

Cheers mate

the real world mpg of that car is 40mpg so at 38 youre nearly bang on you will get more its all down to driving style if you stop start if theres hills how warm or cold it is outside how much electrics you have on how hard and when you brake etc etc

yes the real is around what you can expect depending on the above pretty poor in my opinion but most new cars are ford is stated as being one of the most over optomistic with the mpg figures
