Hope you took video of the "damage" and him so when he puts his fake injury claim in you can get him for fraud. If more people did that the nonsense would stop.

Insurers are now finally moving away from cash payments and towards medical care. The fakers won't want to get treatment instead of cash so won't bother. It's something that should have been done years ago.

I am slap bang in the middle of a claim for my recent accident. The insurers paid for me to get private physiotherapy to get my back and neck back on track, but there is still a claim to be made for the cost out of pocket, stress, lack of sleep and many other things.

People do take insurance details, and to be honest, if there is no visible damage and both parties agree to walk away - fine. but if there is clearly damage to the vehicle, then I would be requesting insurance details. If nothing else I would keep them, report it to my insurer and if 'you' follow through on your promise to polish the scratch out, or, reimburse the cost of the license plate reprint etc. Great, I let them know its settled. But, if you start pulling the old silly beggers game, then I just report it to the police and the insurers

I just like James, have been in an accident actually only settled the claim thank god it was an awful process of being bounced from specialist to specialist to MRI scans to anything. I honestly don't see why the guy you bumped into would want to go down the road of an injury claim he would probably settle for your insurance company to cover the damage none the less you will pay for it too when your insurance company hikes your premium up.

My advice would be to dig into your pocket and cover the damage yourself much more worth your while.

  • 1 month later...

a good mate of mine battered his next door neighbours car with his work van one morning, nocked him up and explained and said sorry etc, said he would sort it all out but the guy nextdoor wanted it sorting by the insurance, so he started the ball rolling.
turns out chummy nextdoor claimed for whiplash as he said he was in the car at the time, unfortunatly for him my mate has cctv on his house and showed the crash to me and you can clearly see no one in the car,,, i copied it to his pc and emailed it to his insurer who blew out the neighbours claim and informed the police,,, he got nothing and done by the feds.
they dont speak anymore apparently :)
