Help, Any Ideas What's Wrong? Mk6

Featured Replies

Hi there, I was advised to post on here to possibly get to the bottom of my problem without having to go to the garage and pay a silly amount of money!

I own a Fiesta Mk6 (2003) and recently my engine light has been flashing. It had been just on for a while but the car drove with no problems, but since the light has started flashing, it seems to have lost all power. My car slows down driving up a hill in 2nd doing 35, now that's not right. I'll outline what I can tell are the problems.

1) Engine Light Flashing

2) Exhaust occasionally shooting

3) Jolting randomly

4) Sounds like a turbo when I change gear (sorry I'm useless with cars and don't know much terminology, but it makes a similar sound to it)

5) Car struggles up any hill

6) Smells of fumes quite often

I know its hard to tell without looking at anything but a mate said it might be something really simple to sort out. It's a calamity of errors with it at the moment it seems!

If anyone has heard or had anything similar I'd love to know what a solution is!

Any split hoses?

Father just had this problem on a Vauxhall ...... His sparks needed cleaning and they found the wire from the spark plugs was faulty sounds exact same as his problem but am no mechanic just sounds like same as his problem and possible be a blocked back box but just guessing here sorry

Is it giving out any smoke at exhaust? And if it is what colour?

The problems that are occurring cannot be pin pointed down to anything until the DTC are read. That's the whole reason the EML was put onto cars.

Get the codes read and then come back with the code, and then someone might be able to help. Otherwise you'll spend 100's and 100's trying to find a fault, your car already knows and is trying to tell you.
