Mondeo Mk3 Tdci - Any Other Upgrade Secrets?

Hi guys,

I haven't had the Mondeo long. Its one of those cars which has obviously been well maintained but on the other hand I have had stupid little fixes to do..

The rear hatch plastic lift togs were bust (the bit that clicks in and holds the trim on the hatch and you attach the plastic string clips to.

The glove box light bulb was smashed and the cigarette lighter fuse had blown.

In my search for which bulbs to get I came across the hidden footwell light sockets which apparently most Mk 3's have. An upgrade by Ford to footwell lights consisted of simply fitting bulbs. So I have !

Now I have footwell lights passenger and drivers side which are cool.

I've attended to all the above successfully and also discovered the snazzy Aux plug socket in the glovebox which works a treat.

Just wondered if there are any other little secret upgrade wiring things built into the Mk3 yet to be discovered?

Cheers

:)

Didn't know about the footwell lights. Im sure mine came with them fitted never really paid it much attention will give it a look.

I have found the AUX cable in the glove box and the previous owner kindly enough left me the wire for it.

Strangely enough mine needed a cig lighter fuse and plastic clips for the boot trim. Cant complain though its done 98,000 I gave it a service and some cataclean and she drives like a new car.

Brilliant Matthew. Thanks for the reply.

Mine has a few more miles at 135 but drives really well.

Mine is the ZETEC and I notice yours is the GHIA X. Not yet sure of the difference but Im sure there are!

There is one thing you might want to do. Automatic locking on pulling off or reversing over 5mph. There is a page on this forum on how to do it if your interested. Only works once per trip so if you jump out your car and its still running when you pull off it wont auto lock like the first time

Motion Auto-lock –MONDEO MK3

Turn on the ignition so the dashboard lights are illuminated. DO NOT start the engine.

Lock the door using the button on the door handle
Then unlock the door (but do not open it) three times.

Turn OFF the ignition.

Lock the door using the button on the door handle
Then unlock the door (but do not open it) three times.

Turn on the ignition but don’t start the engine - you will hear a distinctive beep.

Lock the door again as before then unlock it (only once this time) - a final beep will be heard.

Your doors will now auto lock when you pull away. This will also auto lock
the doors in reverse. If you need to disable this feature, then repeat
the steps above.

Let me know if this works. It worked on mine don't see why it shouldn't on yours

What are the benefits of the green cotton filter Lenny, i used to put an Sti paper filter in my Subaru's and there was a definite performance improvement.

Never really considered any inductions upgrades on a diesel, I've never been one for dump valves and the like just subtle natural upgrades such as air filter and exhaust systems

nah dump valves do nothing for diesels mate,

Blanking the egr prevents exhaust gas Recirculation,

Preveting the induction system from being contaminated with carbon and oil becoming caked with carbon aswell,

After blanking the engine gets 100% induction from the atmosphere through the air filter,

Green Cotton Induction filters are free'er flowing capable of meeting engine demands, there also hand built resulting in no glue spreading over the filter surface

See my guides on blanking egr and filter upgrade on 1.6tdci same principals apply to your mondeo tge technical details and advantages are the same regardless of engine size,

The suppliers in my guides can supply specific parts for your engine too, so you can avail of the 10% discount too.
