Speedo Reading

Featured Replies

Fiesta14 diesel dash speedo reading 5 lines no mileage then no speed reading intermittent returns and increase in radio volume speedo works for a few minutes and returns to blank

Speed sensor (vss).

Classic symptoms.

The radio volume thing is caused by what is known as the AVC, (the radio gets louder to overcome road noise and is dependent on a signal from the VSS to function).

Until you get the VSS fixed you can go into the radio menu and set AVC value to 0.

A new sensor isn't expensive but removing the old one can be a bit of a chore.

A new locking pin is essential as the old one will definitely not survive the procedure.

Everything you need (and cheaper than from Ford)-
