Panther Black!

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Many years ago my brother bought a black car, had a full respray twice and vowed never to buy a black car again! That was when paint was oil based!

Four weeks ago, I had narrowed my Focus search down to three cars, all from dealers of some sort.

I settled for a 09 Zetec 100 against all my better judgement in Panther black.

I went over it on panel when I bought it, there was not a mark, anywhere, the dealer does smart repairs and has a paint shop, but they showed me all they had done:

2 repairs to fabric on rear seat, 1 dent to drivers door (no paint used) and 2 tires and a headlamp bulb for MOT and service.

I haven't washed the car yet, but scratches are appearing everywhere!

Nothing major just swirls and hair scratches what looks like a very old scuff on the rear bumper about the size of 10p piece.

I know it's five years old, but I have great eyes and did PDI in a bodyshop for 12 years!

What the heck do these guys hide paint imperfections with?

I'm guessing some kind of coloured wax?

I am scared to wash it in case a million scratches appear! lol!

What the best way to preserve my paint?

It had Diamondbrite protection inside and out which I didn't pay for and has poor reviews.

It has to last me for years and I would like to keep it looking good.

Cheers.
