Led Footwell Lights Help

Featured Replies

I've had my 09 zetec for about a week now and I've decided to invest in some LED red footwell lights, more powerful than the standard interior lights.

The lights have arrived today and I thought the instructions would be clear enough for someone less Expedianced like me to install, clearly not, the instructions are a load of crap.

There are 2 sets of lights leading to a switch and 1 red and black wire (power I presume) but I have absolutly no clue where to connect this wire?

Just looks like you splice into an existing light point

If the loom is long enough,

Splice in to the loom at the rear of the factory interior light,

Or

if you already have factory footwell lighting splice in to that loom instead

Thanks, but how do i do that? Using those red connectors?

yea you connect the wire from the car to your lights using those connectors... you insert both wires into the connector then use pliers to clamp it down

well you can try those if you like but im not a fan of scotch locks

I prefer to get a stanley blade, peel off some insulation on the cable to expose the copper core,

Wrap the end of the second cable around this and tape it up tight with pvc electrical tape.

Remove bulb socket from holder

Splice:

red to orange

Black to black

Or to save splicing,

Purchase two of these pads from ebay,

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/290996615815?nav=SEARCH

They will come with two T10 plugs that have red+black cable attached,

Splice your led strips to these and plug them in to your factory fitted sockets

Which lights would you add them in to? I had a look at the back of the little ambient light at the bottom and there's a green and black wire I think?

Would you use these to join in to?

Are there any wires that you can't join onto? Just worried about making a mistake as I've only had it a week!

the stock footwell lighting sockets come out of place

If you twist and lift, they come away from the brackets giving you mote room to splice in to the loom,

If i was you,

Id purchase T10 bulb plugs

Purchase Qty:2

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/290996615815?nav=SEARCH

and splice the led strips to the T10 plug cables black-bla and red-red

This way you have an led strip with a T10 bulb plug which you can plug directly in to the factory fitted sockets rather than splicing the loom to fit the strips,

Because led strips wont last forever, splicing the loom for them only makes them more difficult to replace when time comes to do so.

Do I've found the light and there's a green and yellow wire? Which ones for the black and which is for the red?

Then I know which I can add into

Cheers
