ST170 Brake Calipers

Hey,

next week i plan on painting my brake calipers red, i have been advised that i should remove them first?

i was just wondering how i remove them, obviously i need too remove the wheel first but then what lol??

any help appreciated!

You will need a brake hose clamp for this as you dont want any air getting in. I also jam the pedal to the floor using a piece of wood, works a treat. once you have done that remove the brake hose from the calliper, undo the 2 x 7mm allen bolts so you can remove the pads, then remove the 2 x 15mm bolts that secure the calliper carrier to the hub.

to refit, you will need to bleed the brakes to get rid of the air from the callipers.

cant i just simply undo the allen bolts and paint them that way. all i need too do it get into the tiny gaps that would be hard too get too, i dont really need too take the caliper and walk off with it lol at least i havent got all that bother of bleeding the brakes and so on????

certainly nothing stopping you just removing the allen bolts, just remember you will need to push the piston back in before you reassemble(remove the brake fluid resevoir cap first though).
