Jordanch
Guys, Just wanting to know who you have taken your GAP insurance with? Cancelled the GAP I had for my previous car a couple of weeks ago, I initially took it out with Ford and I'm just awaiting the cheque for a returned pro-rota payment. Decided not to take out GAP insurance with Ford this time on the ST-3 as it seems Ford's GAP is quite a rip off and there are plenty of choices out there.. But I'd just like a second opinion on who you are with and if you have had any problems?
SandyCat
Various policies out there. Purchase price GAP Is the one to look for. It compares the original purchase price (less fancy extras) to the insurance offer. Often it's compared to Glasses guide for accuracy. Dealers normally make huge commissions so get it from a broker etc. Always read the small print. For cars between £15k and £25k we are £170 for 3 years of cover but have a shop around and see what you can find. If you need any help just message me. :)
Jordanch
To clarify.. Is the invoice amount the cost of purchase? And not taking into account interest costs from a PCP? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
SandyCat
It's the invoice for the vehicle less extras like paint protection, skotch guard, mats, tax, extra warranty and purchase interest yes. In other words what the original car would have cost without any additions.
bensambrook
Ala, plenty of discount codes knocking about too. http://www.ala.co.uk
Jordanch
Right, using ALA. Would I use.. Back to invoice+, or vehicle replacement+..?
BigRog
vehicle replacement, why you ask? it will buy you a new car, remember NEW car prices go up, you will get a replacement or similar.
Alison79
Got mine earlier in the week from directgap - excellent prices, all the usual options on claim level, return to invoice/vehicle replacement
Jordanch
After looking about I bought GAP for £164 for 3 year cover. Chuffed as that's less than half of what I paid for with Ford! Got the vehicle replacement cover :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
bensambrook
Good price mate, who did you go with in the end?
Jordanch
Good price mate, who did you go with in the end? I went with ALA, always cautious when I look at Brooker sites but they took to my approval, cover for up to £12500 which will be more than enough. bensambrook
Panther Black Zetec S 125 :) My first Ford, coming from a E46 320D so quite a change! Properly excited though, I just wanted some cheap & trouble free (hopefully) motoring.

Properly excited though, I just wanted some cheap & trouble free (hopefully) motoring. You'll love it I'm sure, I had that car previously and was a joy to drive. I do a lot of town driving so I was managing 40-45mpg, and that was driving like a nun! I have it mapped by bluefin and that made it epic to drive! Just over 150bhp, shocked a lot of drivers I think :D Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
bensambrook
Crazy to think of how much power it produces as standard, I remember when I first passed my test and the hot hatch was a Saxo VTS with 120bhp from a 1.6 engine, now we're getting 125 from a 1.0. Awesome stuff! Was the Bluefin remap expensive? It's definitely something I'm thinking of doing within the first year.

Philf1
I know you have already bought this but for anyone else considering try easy gap, always get replacement car policy, and if keeping the car 5 year cover. Easy gap policies are transferable to your next car as well just in case you do change. I'm just looking for my sons new ST3 and costs are coming in at £229. (I paid £159 for the same policy 7 months ago but the guy did me deal as I had a policy from him already)
Jordanch
Also to add.. My GAP will be giving me back a pro rota payment. Does anyone know how this works? E.G. You paid for 3 years GAP but only used 2 years? Or the other way around.. Paying for 3 years but only using 1 year? Just like to have an estimate of what I will be receiving back :)
