Engine Light And What Is This Part?

Featured Replies

I've just had a look around the engine on my st170 due to engine light being on to see if I can see anything obvious. Car still seems to be running OK.

I saw this

Any ideas what it is and where it should go? Also, it is the cause of the engine light being on?

That's an external temperature sensor - an afterthought in some way or other on the ST170 as it's usually just cable-tied to the side of the battery box. Looks a right bodge! Don't see that being cause of the engine light coming on.

Darn, was hoping it might just be a nice easy fix for the engine light. Thanks canyway.

Disconnected battery and light went off and hasn't come back on yet. Mind you it's only been on a 5 half hour drive!

Hope it stays off but will no doubt return at some point I'm sure.
