Hi Guys,

I want to purchase L.E.D Daytime running strip lights for my Focus Zetec S. Any good (but cheapish) ones out there that look similar to the standard Ford L.E.D lights?

To be honest cheap and ford lights are an impossible combination to find. How much are you talking about spending?

Do ford do original DRL lights for the mk2.5 facelight model as an after market kit or anything?

I think these may be the ones like the mondeo that fit in the fog lamp surround. I would not mind retro fitting a set to my Focus maybe in the coming months.

I believe they do for the 2.5 but not cheap, some are available on the bay of e.-

I just fitted the Ford/Nolden ones. Piece of P**s to do. 1 hour Max

Only thing I altered is I didnt cut the wires (#12) to the sidelights as I wanted to be able to put my park lights on. The instructions get you to cut them to comply with some ECE R 48 regulation, but this totally disables the park lights so you can no longer park legally at night on an unlit road (not that anyone does actually put their park lights on when required). Also pretty certain you would fail an MOT without park lights. Also makes the wiring even easier

I know they are not cheap but they are OEM, the components and harness provided are pukka and look OEM and the instructions are idiot proof (although an idiot at holden obviously wired the whole batch wrong as the instructions get you to cut the black Earth ring off the black wire and attach it to the red. The red then goes to earth and the black goes to power!!!!)

The LEDS are angled in the front grill so they point directly forward and they cast a strong narrow beam ahead. I have fitted Phillips and Ring (The best I think) to other cars and the issue with those is if you cut them into your side grills then it will be hard to get them to face forward and still look good, I think they will end up pointing outwards a lot to look OK

I experimented with a strip of LEDS taped in the Side grills, but again the angle meant strongest light was to the sides and you really want the light forwards

Another option I considered was a tape of LEDs along the chrome trim either side of the badge. Would look cool but too close to each other to be legal

I personally dont like the vertical ones that run up parallel to the sides of the centre grill. Too far away from the edge of the vehicle and just doesnt look right

I think I made the correct choice even though they were the most expensive

As I did the whole thoing holding a torch in my mouth! I didnt take pics, but will when the sun shows its face again

Here you go, the OEM Ford DRL's fitted

Dirty car with no lights on. Its pretty bright out

Car with ignition on. They are pretty bright to the eyes, but are definitely a row of single dots still, they do stand out

The park lights on. Now these are LED projectors so are very bright, and the LED now at half brightness are still brighter than the parks

At night the DRL's are nearly as bright as the fogs, although the fogs are yellow in comparison (still normal bulbs) and focused a lot more

Nice job Stephen. I like the way they look on the mk3 focus. I will have to get some fitted to my mk2 in the coming months.

I stuck them on my landrover about 3 years ago after I nearly pulled out on a black car under trees in a country lane, just saw his DRL's in time. Proved to me they work

I swear that people took more notice of my old tank after they were fitted. Want them on ANY vehicle I drive. Go for it. If you don't have any issues with fitting non designer ones the Ring ones are VERY good, bright and dead easy to fit and a reasonable price, and survived being dunked in rivers and mud on the landy

Which round ones are we talking about?

They look good!!! Do you know if you can purchase the ford originals via a pay monthly option? I defiantly want them! And where did you order the ford badges from?

This post is several years old but I'm struggling to find the most suitable lights for my 14 plate zetec s! Can you help? Thanks

Is this the Mk 3 or Mk 3.5? If it's the 3.5 you can get integrated headlights or you can get DRL lights from Autobeam that also work as indicators that fit around the fog lights. If it's the Mk 3 you can often find the Nolden lights fairly cheap on Ebay and sometimes Amazon. You might also be able to find some headlights that have integrated DRLs from the scrapyard, all you'll need to do is use Forscan to enable them.
