Locking Wheel Nut Help Pls!

Featured Replies

So the spanner monkey i had my last set of tyres from massively overtightened my wheel nuts, So much that i broke my socket/key trying to take the wheel off iv got a replacement key removed the locking nuts from the other three wheels but still cant get the last one off they were so tight i struggled cracking the other nuts on the same wheel with a 24" breaker bar.

Ive tried hammering a socket over after chiselling off the spinning collar that didnt work and also the threaded removal socket tool doesnt work either oh and smashing it with a lump hammer to shock it any better ideas out there Help!

Blow torch the actual wheel nut to expand it and crack the corrosion. Ally wheel and steel nut can weld electrically especially if esposed to salt

It is possible to use a chisel to crack the nut.

Not a wood working chisel, I hasten to add!!

Get the corner of it in the keyhole and whack it in an anticlockwise direction.

BE WARNED - any slip of the chisel WILL damage the wheel surface

I did contemplate cutting across the nut with a grinder and a thin disk the smack the crap out of it with a decent chisel, think that might work?

Perceiver with the socket over the top you will get it eventually had exactly the same problem a week back on a mates car must admit did use a lump hammer to get the socket on tight enough .

As a last resort drilling the head off would obviously do the job then getting the rest out of the hub should be easy adding a bit of heat if need be . :D :driving:
