BeloB
Hi I'm new to the owners club and wonder whether anyone can help me identify what the issue could be with my 2011 1.6 Duratec deisel Grand C-Max. For a while now when the engine is under load the engine volume is quite loud and the car sounds more like a flat 4 (subaru-ish). The problem seems to be getting worse and desipte the main dealer saying there was nothing wrong there clearly is. More recently there is an audiable ticking noise which accompanies the raised volume. An independent diesel specialist has said that the DPF was blocked which stops the enginf breathing properly and this is the cause of the nosie under load. He has treatd this with some DPF cleaner, but while I think the symptoms may have improved slightly the issue hasn't gone away. Any ideas as any help would be greatly appreciated ? jeebowhite
Is it manual or automatic? It old be gearbox or engine mounts are worn causing more vibrations?
BeloB
It's a manual - thanks for the feedback and I'll check it out Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
kevzs960
If the dpf is blocked then there should be a fault code. For dpf blocked or soot acumilation over maximum threshold. Did he hook the dpf cleaner to the actual dpf system or just throw it in the fuel tank? Might need a static regeneration only diagnostic equipment can do this tjo Sent from my GT-I9195 using Ford OC mobile app
BeloB
I almost certain he just threw some stuff in the tank. I think that now I have some more evidence which points to the dpf then I might take it back to the dealer. Thanks for taking the time to reply. kevzs960
The additive you put in the tank is a waste of time and money. It will not make any benefit. A proper dpf cleaner hooks uo to the actual dpf an its attempts to clean it out. Hopefully there are some flash codes or they can see what the dpf is doing on i.d.s Sent from my GT-I9195 using Ford OC mobile app
