2.0 Tdci Egr Blanking Plate

Featured Replies

Fitted a stainless egr blanking plate to my 2.0 tdci yesterday after hearing good things about them drove 15 miles and the eml came on. this morning plugged it into the computer and it came up with egr control circuit high I knocked the light off took the car out again and about 15 miles later the lights on again so looking for any ideas. must say the car does seem to tick over a little smoother since fitting it, the cars only got 60,000 miles on and had no bother with the egr valve before fitting the plate.

The light doesn't matter as it is just a warning light and doesn't affect the running of the engine.

If you haven't had any bother without the blank, then why not just remove it :whistling:

Any better ideas as I did not put the blanking plate on to fix any problems it was put on to improve on what I already have and because the majority say its a good idea.

U are ment to clean the EGR first before fitting the blank

But there wasn't anything wrong with the egr valve before I fitted the blank just wondered why it through a code up.

because the majority say its a good idea.

this is just asking for the obvious

If the majority said jump in front of a moving train would you

On a serious note.

I think the basic idea is, the code comes up due to EU emissions regulations making manufacturers recirculate and reburn some of the exhaust gases. This is programed into the ecu, so when certain sensors don't read the set amount of air flow, pressure etc that should be read due to blanking the EGR, it throws up the warning light. This seems to only be in euro 4 cars and onwards.
