Mk6 Fiesta 1.4 To 2.0L St Engine

Featured Replies

Hi guys I know this has been asked many times but I am been thinking of putting an ST engine into my mk6 1.4 Fiesta for quite a while now I finally have it looking nicer now and want to make it quicker but still want to have a 5 door does and I know it can be done as earlier today someone on Facebook put up a video of their 5 door ST MK6.5 showing the first start up

Does any know if the ST Fiesta drive line and wiring harness is a direct fit or would I have some parts of other Fords I know I'll have to use a aftermarket ecu to tie everything together regarding the engine conversion I work in a garage and that should be a problem to complete the job

thanks in advance for any help and advice its much appreciated

You would need all the ST ancilliaries + the ST BCU, keys, ignition, locks etc, the ST might have all sorts of upgrades or "hidden" things, like the dash, lift pump, brakes, clutch gearbox, linkage etc etc, (you would need to find out what is required) you may need so much stuff, you would be cheaper getting an ST donor car, unless the donor car is crash damaged or similar, you would probably be better off just changing cars to the ST and save the hassle (does the extra pair of doors really justify the cost/ hassle?)

What aftermarket ECU were you thinking of? - that opens a whole can of worms, like setting it up, things not working, immobiliser coming on etc (often "stand alone" ECUs are for racing or track day cars - not designed for the road and have limitations)

+ the old NA st is not quick by modern standards - with only 150hp, its a "warm" hatch, not a hot hatch - personally if i was going to go to the hassle of an engine transplant, i would go for something with a bit more "oomph"

Depends on your perspective but the NA 20L is a bit gutless and rough at high revs, its difficult and expensive to get much more power out of it (than 150hp) the old NA Fiesta ST is not quick/ fast compared to modern hot hatches - (including the new turbo Fiesta or Focus (or even the "old" ST225) and the new turbo-engined cars have a lot more tuning potential (and the tuning is easy, & fast - just stick a remap on it)

So you go to all the hassle of an engine swap to have a warm hatch (just the same as an old ST but with an extra couple of doors ) - not as quick as a modern ST -, why bother? - if you are going to go to all that trouble - fit an engine with some decent power/ torque - like this -
