Help Shaking Like Its Falling To Bits!!!

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 06 plate focus sport 1.8tdci. It's shakes really badly and when driving if you accelerate really gently it builds up speed slowly but if you accelerate like normal the rev needle flush round the dial like the clutch is slipping. The clutch bite is right at the top of the pedal. But keep hearing different stories some people say it's the clutch some say dual mass flywheel some saying injectors and others saying turbo or pipes. Can anyone shed some light on it please I'm ripping my hair out lol.

And to make matters worse I've just broke this thin pipe while checking the intercooler pipe. Which is really greasy but can't see any cracks or splits. Can anyone tell me what's it's called so I can buy a new 1.

If the revs go up and the car doesn't go any faster it's either wheelspin or clutch. Could be related to something amiss with the flywheel but can't see how the injectors or intercooler would affect this.

And if there's a horrid stink under the bonnet after the car has done the revs shooting up on acceleration thing, that's another pointer that the clutch is poorly.

I think the clutch is on its last legs as the bite is right at top of the pedal and sometimes can take the pedal all the way up and it doesn't stall. I can smell fuel in the car while driving and how bad it shakes make me think the flywheel had it to.

clutch bite at top of pedal...clutch replacement in need im afraid.

Would that explain the shaking while idle?

Does the engine sound like a bag of spanners when idling?

Knocking a lot it got worse after I had the water pump and timing belt changed don't no if that was relevant or not

I think your symptoms are pointing towards a failing dmf

Me to a bloke I no who works for Ford said he will do me the clutch dmf and master cylinder for 625 if it is that what has gone.

you said it got worse after a pump + timing belt change. id get that re-checked first to see if the timing was aligned correctly.

definately worth getting timing checked and making sure that the belts and pullies are all still in good health, but as the guys said, otherwise its either a clutch or DMF!

When it starts up there blue smoke from exhaust till it warms up? And has anyone got an idea of what that thin pipe is in the pic. As it snapped the other day need to replace it

Blue smoke is normally burning oil and could indicate a not so good issue.

Ate you referring to the pipe that's going in above the big pipe?

Yes the thin pipe with the rubber elbow going into the turbo

Think it's the oil or breather hose?

Cheers
