Do I Need To Set The Clock Manually?

Featured Replies

I've noticed my clock is a few minutes out, and up to now I assumed that it would automatically get the correct time from the satnav or when connected to my phone, is there any way to get it to update automatically like a standalone satnav would? Or does it have to be set manually, including daylight savings like most other cars?

Yes you do, because Ford, even My Old Clio which was an 04 plate adjusted for daylight savings I think.

That's just bad, I wonder if that means the satnav gives incorrect arrival times too. It doesn't make sense, I thought satnavs had to know the exact time to work out your location.

There is an option in the menu. I think in the nav settings of the menu to automatically get time and date. Found it by accident the other day.

Sorry I can't be more detailed than that off the top of my head, but have a look and it will be there.

Yeah I think I saw that option before, will have a look later.

My Focus has the option to get the time from the GPS.

You still have to tick/untick daylight savings when the clocks change though, as I believe the GPS only transmits UTC.

Yes I wondered about that BST option as will that automatically adjust or will I have to try and find that menu option again (going to look again in a mo)

Doesn't automatically adjust for daylight savings on mine. Have to tick/untick the box every time.

Found it, in the clock settings it's something like "auto time (GPS)". For some reason I had to un-tick the summertime option, but it looks like it's set to the wrong time zone because when the clocks go back it will be an hour ahead. Anyone know if there's a setting for the time zone? I would think the GPS would know what time zone it's in

It would be interesting to see if cars without the satnav have the auto time feature, because all those with emergency assistance have a GPS sensor.

Anyone know if there's a setting for the time zone?

I answered my own question, there is a time zone setting and it was set to the German time zone, silly Ford.

Its more complex than you would expect it to be. Saved me the job of writing out where I found it just though. :)
