Limp Home Mode

Featured Replies

Well I think I have got to nub of the matter with my car being in limp home mode and engine system fault warning.

There is a fault on the glow plug circuit for sure most likely the glow plugs need replacing, taking it back to the guy I bought it from tomorrow for him to look at it, he has a vehicle diagnostics business so will be interesting to see what he thinks the fault is.

The other DTC is about DPF regeneration frequency but as I understand it if the glow plugs are not working properly then the DPF regeneration won't happen.

I also understand the glow plugs are a sod to change on this engine so I am more than happy to let them sort them. Fingers crossed in a few days it should be back to normal and I can be happy again.

Currently removed the waste gate actuator on my ZTT to check it is functioning properly still trying to figure out why it smokes like mad. I love working on cars (not), quite often I wish I had not started when I am half way through a job but when it is fixed and is all back together it is a good feeling. It is also nice being able to take my time on the ZTT whilst it is off the road and not having to worry about having a car to get to work etc.

Took the car back to the guy I bought it from and he says it does need the glow plugs replacing, can't get it booked in until sat the 6th so going to have limp it around for another week, he is going to replace all the glow plugs and do a forced regeneration on the DPF for me. Can't fault his service so a big thumbs up for ADC in Nottingham. http://autodc.co.uk if it is of use to anyone seem a decent outfit.

I presume you've checked the MAF? Have you had a browse of the MG/Rover forum and done a search for smoky engine?

MAF has been unplugged for over a year and I have been on .org for a good few years now but thanks anyway.
