Is there much noticeable difference (generally) between the 1.0 ecoboost 100PS & the 125PS version engine?

Is the 125PS worth the extra cost over the 100PS?

The 125ps hits 0-60 in 9.1s & the 100ps is 11.2s (I think)

I drove both and didn't *feel* much difference, but still the numbers don't lie - if quick overtakes is something you need, I'd go for the 125ps (which I also went for myself)

I won't say it. ...but the private lease of forbidden to speak of model in these threads being only 30 a month more for very much more car and little difference in mpg speaks for itself, just saying.

I test drove the 100ps and leased the 125. In real world driving there isn't a lot of difference, just nice to have extra poke when wanted for overtaking

I can't say as I have only driven the 100, though I ordered the 125 and its not here yet.

However my thinking was that if I went for the 100 when I could stretch to the 125, I'd spend the entire time wishing I had the extra 25 horses and wishing I'd ordered the other one. Unlikely I'll get the 125 and wish I had less power though (if you get my point)...

Haha I know the feeling, my current fiesta is 17 years old and if it had any less power it wouldn't go at all :P

Thanks for the replies everyone. I would really like to get the 125 but it will be a case of whichever is in my budget range on the day.

I have driven a focus 1.6 (125ps) a couple of times & it made me realise that getting a 1.4 fez was a big mistake after having owned 1.6 focuses & escorts for several years.

Based on figures stated on Ford's vehicle configure section. The spec I am looking at, the price difference is only £500. It all depends on what my budget will be when I decide to upgrade.

Budget will be px value + maximum cash amount.

Look at gmv though, 125 may be worth more than 500 at the end of it making naff all difference.

If you can afford it, its a no brainer at that price. It may not be that noticeable the majority of the time but you could have thoughts of 'what if', if you did get the 100

And £500 for 25% more power is silly cheap, F1 teams would commit genocide to get that.

I really want the 125 but if my budget cannot stretch to it, then I will have to save for a bit longer.

I am looking at a budget of up to £16k (assuming px approx £6k or more) & i would consider buying used if need be.

I am not planning on upgrading until March (at the earliest) anyway, so still time to think before making final decisions.

Well just to tell you how good the used market is for buying a car I just saved up n got mines it's a 1.0 EcoBoost 125 titanium only a 13plate only done 15k and I got it £9750 got the dealer down from 11k odd and got the hp finance down to 7% (which is good for ma age (dealers usually do 12% for me up here).

And look how much someone payed for brand new only a year ago

but for the money you want to spend you can get one with literally no miles or pre reg for cheap too! And a 125 as you want

Just went to try a Focus 1.6 150ps today, it's honestly not that much faster than the Fiesta 125ps, so I'm gonna stick with my Fiesta for now.

Personally I'd try to get a 125ps instead of the 100ps, but then again I like my horsepowers :D

I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine & he said that the 3 cylinder engines vibrate all the time & that I might find it annoying. Is this true?

He has not driven a ecoboost yet, just the other manufacturers versions.

I am hoping to test drive an ecoboost fiesta soon, but just wanted to know so I am prepared.

i noticed no vibrating when test driving, once for 30 mins drive taking it up to 80 and another just around town etc and neither times noticed any vibrating or unwanted wobble.Maybe the ecoboost is different? i dont know as thats the only one ive driven but it is beautifully smooth, silky and easy to drive :)

As in my previous post, he has only driven cars from other manufacturers with 3 cylinder engines in them & they obviously vibrate a lot.

I have said to him that ford might have made an engine that does not vibrate. If/when I get a new fiesta, he will get to drive it (probably!).

He is not really my mechanic friend, he is my brother (but he is a mechanic).

I recently had a 3 cylinder polo as a hire car. It was horrible and sounded louder than a diesel. The ecoboost is nothing like this

No lol it doesn't vibrate because the EcoBoost engine is so advanced in technology wise! When the bottom of the piston moved it moves a counter weight to stop the vibration and at the same time the weight adjusts the oil pressure too!!!
