Leaking Ac

Hi ive got 2004 1.8 tdci focus had the AC gassed up and within 2 weeks it had practically lost all its gas i can hear the thump the AC makes when u switch it on so i know its working ive had a quote of £75 just to test to see where the fault is and then theres the repair and regas cost ive seen the regas and leak fixing kits both on ebay and in halfords but are they any good has anyone else had a similar problem?

don't waste your money if you plan to keep the car get it repaired properly, I would go back to where you had it gassed ask for a redfund and spend it on investigation as to what part is failing.

DO NOT go to Kwik-Sh...fit!

Find a local, well respected garage that does AC regasses.

Any good one will offer to test the system for free - by whacking a load of dye in and pressurising the system.

The garage I've just used (after KF told me my compressor was leaking...it wasn't) invite you back after 2 weeks to inspect it for leaks. I haven't been back as the AC is working better than it ever has.

Im only planning on getting bout 2 years out of it just wanted to see if there is a temporary fix and it was a friend of a friend who came to mine an regassed on my drive

If it has lost most of the gas, you shouldn't be hearing the compressor kicking in..

Presumably your friend used a diy kit? A professional kit will vacuum off the old gas and lubricant and hold a vacuum on the system which for one removes moisture but also tests for leaks.
