Squeaks / Rattles Ocd

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I'm new to all the forum stuff so was just wondering if anybody has got / had the same problems as me.

Ive had my 14 plate fiesta ST-2 for about 5 months now, after about 3 months it started rattling in the steering column, turned out a spring from the air bag had come off....(really reassuring...) has anybody else had this at all?

Next....a couple of weeks ago the back end started squeaking no matter what speed, you could hear it constantly. I took it back to ford again and they said it was the rear window rubbing on the body work? I personally thought that was a load off bulls**t and that they just fobbed me off. Id opened the boot and pushed down on the back end it sounded more like the suspension / bushings to me. Has anyone else had this? or something similar?

Finally....as of yesterday, after having my car back for a week from getting the previous squeak "fixed", I've now got the first annoying rattle back, again! I wouldn't mind if it was every now and then buts loud and constant and driving me insane!

I can normally live with things like that but on a brand new car that shouldn't be happening, id expect things like that after 10k not 3k!

If anybody has had anything similar let me know :)

Cheers!

What Cars long term tester had some rear end noise problem but I can't remember what it was. If I find it in the back issues I will let you know.

The only annoying rattle in mine is from the flat thin plastic strip above the steering wheel column but below the binnacle. If you hold it the rattle stops so it must be that and I just need to pack it with something. Not sure if this is similar to yours?

The st's do rattle mate, the hard suspension coupled with the state of our roads, unfortunately it's the way it is. And also its a Ford so the build quality isn't gonna be amazing. I find using the loud pedal usually drowns out any annoying noise :P

Im beginning to come to that conclusion! I know its going to make noises etc but these just seem like their really not supposed to be there. Haha yeah the go faster pedal along side loud go faster music had helped ease it

The rear seats rattle. Euan Doig from Autocar(?) had a rattle on his and was the folding seats. Mine do it also. Fold them down and see if it goes away.
