Power Steering Bolt Leaking...................

Featured Replies

hi all, new to the forum and need some help with the gf car.its a mark1 focus and the power steering is loosing fluid. i had a look around and from underneath there is a pipe coming from the pump heading towards the rack that has a nut and bolt in it. the nut (14mm) looks like it has a m8 bolt/screw in it again 14mm head and this seems to be leaking. i have searched the web and cannot find this nut/bolt or anyway of tightening or sortinga solution. hopefully one of you guys can help. thanks in advance. Shane

just to add to above, next to the nut and bolt on the pipe was this part no. 98ag3e586ag, i googled it and it came up with some german stuff which didnt really help. any clues?

Helps the google search when the part number you saw is split up so you're looking for 98AG 3E586 AG.

Google images throws up a few photos which I reckon are what you've looked at

well i have since found out that it should have the pressure switch there, not a bolt. does anyone know the thread size? its the aircon version too. it looks old english perhaps 3/8 unf but being ford i would assume a metric fine???? any clues?? thanks

Being a pipe fitting it may well be a bsp size, but as you say being ford it could be metric.

If it's bsp, remember the size you measure is not the actual size, for example 1/4 bsp measures approx 1/2 inch.
