  • I wouldnt go above 4300k, purely because 4300k xenon's are what audi, bmw etc use so they look oem, higher like 6k would look blue and crap imo. Dave, best setup and I think most people would agree,

  • Simple. Osram night breakers H1 and H7 for the legal option. sorted Or HIDs for the not so legal option

  • +1 in what tom said :P

are the diamond vision ones more hid like?

You guys have seriously confused me by having this debate about the new philips bulbs...

I was going for the Nightbreaker H1's and the Philips H7's ... But whether they're White Vision, Xtreme Vision or whatever else I don't know. Has anyone heard of Twenty20 bulbs? There's some offer on autobulbsdirect for them, claiming up to 100% more light..

Just want my lights to look good, had HiD's on my old fez, think they were like 5k, nice intense white but with a bit too much blue- didn't like that bit lol

In that case I think you want the CrystalVisions. I think you can get HIDs set to lower colour temps like 4300K so that might be an option if you don't like them to look blue.

Dave, best setup and I think most people would agree, without going HID, you want H7 Phillips Crystal Visions and H1 Nightbreaker unlimited's and H11 nightbreaker unlimiteds for the fogs if you want to change them.

Yeah I was thinking 4300s they're light a nice bright white, any higher and it starts to go blueish.. But again to match the DRL colour..

I've also noticed during the day drls seem pure white but put sidelights on and they're yellow.. Anyone else noticed this?

Yeah you're right, and cars that come with xenons and DRLs seem to have them colour matched from the factory. Some seem to have something like 6k for both DRLs and dipped beam, especially Mercedes and it really suits them. I think on some cars a blue tint doesn't look right though, but I'm mainly thinking of old Corsas lol, keep seeing one with blue headlights around my village.

Do the DRLs dim when sidelights are selected, maybe that's why they look more yellow? We had a play with the different light settings at Ford Fair but I can't remember what the DRLs do on different light settings.

Yeah they do.. I was just wondering whether they actually dimmed purposefully or whether it was just because the drls and sidelights on simultaneously? Need to order my lights this weekend! Can't deal with the factory ones.

I think on all STs with DRLs there aren't seperate sidelights, instead the DRLs act as sidelights. This might be different on other Fiestas but I'm not sure. I've heard that they dim when you turn the lights on (or when they come on automatically) because the DRLs are so bright that they would dazzle people at night. Maybe when LEDs dim the colour temperature reduces too, making them give off a more yellow light.

You're right Phil the St doesn't have seperate sidelights its drl lights are the sidelights it just dims them slightly

I've just gone night breaker for the H1's and Philips Xtreme vision for the 7's as they didn't have any crystal visions near me.. Anyone had these in their car/what they like? Will give them a go either way but don't want them to look crap!

I had extreme visions on my old zs, not much better than standard imo.

Got white visions on the st and much whiter and brighter than standard.

I swear someone had said somewhere the White visions were !Removed!. That's why I didn't go for them in the shop, only a few quid between the two isn't there? I'll fit one and compare with oem lights.. Could you take a pic of the white visions so I can see what they're like?

I would disagree with them being !Removed!,they are a good upgrade over standard and better visibility in the bad weather at the moment as well.

I had xenons on my old clio197 and the thing is no h7 is gonna come close to the light they chuck out mate. Maybe in colour but no where near intensity.I will get some pics sometime but it's chucking it down and im a poof.

I think the complaints about the WhiteVisions were that they simply aren't white as advertised. Philips say they have a colour temp of 4300k which is the same as CrystalVisions, but that's simply not true. If you're after something that gives off a white light and matches the DRLs, the CrystalVisions are the only way to go. You could return the bulbs you bought before you open them, and buy the CrystalVisions online:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Crystal-Vision-Upgrade-Headlight/dp/B00K0DKQ4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415729562&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+crystal+vision+h7

That's definitely true. I was overtaken by a Merc a couple days ago and it's lights turned night into day lol.

Went out tonight to a covered car park to fit the lights as it was !Removed! it down with rain where Iive.. Took a mate along who's got a nice little mx5 (totally irrelevant but there you go)

Thought I'd for both lights on drivers side so I could compare between factory lights and osram/Philips

Osram are blinding, serious light comes through those bulbs and near on perfect match for the DRL's, well happy with those.

That said the Xtreme visions are total and utter garbage, look no different to the factory ones whatsoever so back they go to eurocarparts tomorrow! :') think I'll be ordering the crystal visions online!

Good job though cause I took the wrong tools with me so wouldn't have been able to get past the washer fluid no matter how determined I was! Ha

Quick q though, on putting the lights back the drivers side dipped beam looks lower than the passenger side? Is it actually meant to be like that ,to stop blinding people etc) or did I not put them back correctly? Suppose it won't really matter if I'm gonna change the beams again but still!!

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

I'm not sure about one beam being lower than the other, I thought they were about the same except for that slanted bit that lights up the left side of the road. Before I took mine out I put pencil marks around where the main screws go to make sure I get them back on exactly the same. Although I should have done that when I got the car, instead I did it after the nearside headlight was removed during the Mountune upgrade, so who knows if they put it back on straight.

Could just be me I suppose.. Just hadn't noticed it before..

They are pretty much a clip in place thing so I doubt that I've put them in wrong but LHS does look higher than RHS..

drivers side beam will be lower than passenger to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic

Did think that bit wanted to make sure :') just need to get my dipped beams now!

I've basically read through this whole thread and was going to go for the following bulbs:

Dipped Beam - H7 - Philips Crystal Vision 4300K

Full Beam - H1 - Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited

These are the bulbs that have been recommended the most throughout this thread.

However, on powerbulbs.com, they say that the Osram light temp is 3400k?

Has anyone noticed the difference in temperature using these with the Philips Crystal Vision 4300K? Just a little concerned that the DLRs and Philips Crystal Visions will be a lot whiter than the Osrams and it will look horrible.

If anyone can give me any advice on this, it would be much appreciated.

^ I have the same bulbs and the Nightbreakers are only slightly less white. But remember this is for the full beam so nobody will really ever see that. The main thing is that the Nightbreakers give really good light for full beam compared to standard.

Also make sure you adjust the dipped beam if you can't see far at night - I had mine adjusted and it made such a difference that I barely even need the full beam at night.

Thanks for that Phil. Never really thought that the Nightbreakers will only be for full beam and so you won't really notice.

Also, by adjusting the dipped beam, do you just mean by using the controls next to the light switches in the car? Or doing something with the bulbs and headlights manually?

^ I mean adjusting the dipped beam on the headlight itself (the dial next to the light switches should be at zero unless you have people and luggage in the back). I went to a garage to have this done and they didn't charge much, but there is some info around on how to do it yourself.

^ Right OK. I will check next time I am out at the car to see if the dial is to zero or no. If not I can see about adjusting the dipped beam.

Just away to order those bulbs now, thanks for all your help! :D
