Rev Limited?

Featured Replies

I've got a 1.0 zetec S 125ps and I'm wondering if it's only my car that won't rev above 4000 when standing still not moving, and if this is common for all then is there a way to remove this limiter?

Thanks

Iits normal yeah, im not sure if u can remove it, i think you can remove a fuse but not 100% sure..

It's a safety feature designed to stop the engine damaging whilst say still. Look at the idiot who set fire to his car whilst at the Paul Walker tribute and you will see why it's a good idea. Sadly these people walk amongst us....

Ahh okay, I thought that would be the reason for it, do you know what fuse or what I'd have to do to remove it??

I'm not one of those that revs his engine up constantly or even now and again, just curious to see what it'd sound like as a 1.0

It's there to stop the car damaging itself when sitting still as it will overheat (location of the radiator is behind the front bumper ) not behind grill . Ever just driven car and you hear fan kicked in that's why

Ahh yeah I wondered why it got that hot the fan has to kick in after ever drive! Cheers mate

It's electronic not mechanical so AFAIK it's an ECU switch not a fuse control

wee hint mate forgot to say if you do it in neutral it will limit it but if you put the clutch down then do it ;) lol

Boy the mechanics are going to be peed off when these come up for MOT and they can't do their emissions test with the pedal to the floor like normal ha ha !
