Zetec S Seat Issue

Featured Replies

Not sure if it's just me or not

But my previous mk7 zs I found the seats very comfy and could drive for hours with no problem.

Since having the mk7.5 I just can't seem to find a comfy seating position that doesn't make the bottom of my back ache :/

Any ideas?

Here's a guide which I've recommended before, just general advice to get a comfortable seat / driving position:

http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-Seating-to-the-Proper-Position-While-Driving

And I'd add that you should set the seat as low is it will go in my opinion, because I'm assuming you want a more sporty feel when you have a ZS.

Yeah I've got the on the lowest position, the seat just seems to stick out at the bottom where my lower back is

If you don't already, make sure you push yourself back into the seat fully so your entire back is in contact with the back of the seat (you might need to move the seat / seatback forward and adjust the steering wheel closer so you don't lean forward). If you follow that guide I mentioned and still can't get comfortable then something is wrong. Maybe someone else with the same car can comment on how comfortable they find the seats. In the ST they've done a really good job with making the seat the exact shape of my back :)

also have you got the lumbar support correctly positioned? i found it uncomfy at the start till i moved the lumbar support which made it very comfy!

Yeah try the lever on the left to adjust the lumbar support

Yeah they are nice seats, they don't have adjustable lumbar support but don't really need it. I bet you could put ST seats in your car, maybe if you can get them from a breakers yard. I think they attach in the same way as the standard seats.

Yeah i did think that, just need one of you lovely st owners to have a spin aha

I had a play around with the seat tonight - I don't know how you guys like it on the lowest setting. The vision seemed far worse than my usual mid way kind of height

Not sure aha I just like to sit low

I always have my seat as low as it goes

How low does the seat go in the ZS, not picking mine up for a few weeks yet :(

Not stupidly low I don't think, I'm used to it though

I'm obviously getting old. It goes pretty low I'd say. I'm 6ft and there seemed like a good foot headroom

That's a brilliant wikihow. Bookmarked :)

Not that I'll literally do everything in that list it's total overkill haha. You'd spend like 2 hours adjusting your seat!

It depends how tall you are and the angle you have the back of the seat at. I'm 6ft and with the seat all the way down my eye level is around half way up the windscreen which is where it's meant to be. In my last Fiesta I had the seat all the way up thinking I was getting better visibility, but it felt so much better when I lowered it all the way, you just feel more connected with the car because you're closer to the centre of gravity.

Yeah I probably almost spent that long fiddling with it by the time I was happy lol, just making small adjustments here and there. I followed most of that guide just modifying it assuming the seat will be lowered all the way down, that makes it simpler.

Yeah, I think the simplified version is when the brakes are pressed, your legs should be slightly bent. When you reach for the steering wheel, your arms should be slightly bent. You should be able to see. You should be comfortable. That guide has great ways to judge when it's right though!
