Cabin Filter Replaced.

Featured Replies

Today I change the cabin filter on my 2010 mk2.5 focus. And it was a nightmare.

Why on earth did ford think a serviceable item like a cabin filter needs to be right in the guts of the car behind the centre dashboard.

Had to remove half if the car to get to it via the passenger footwear.

Also I will assume it's never been replaced on my 4 year old car before as it was thick black and disgusting.

I'm. Thinking it was worth while changing as I couldn't see how any air could even pass through the filter.

I have attached a photo to show how bad it is. Can't believe how dirty it was.

Replaced it with a bosch filter for 12 quid from eurocarparts.

good job mate. I did my on my annual service using a genuine ford one but to be honest Id say they are all nearly the same filters for what they do. It is a pain to get to but next time you go to replace it you'll probably do it in half the time as you know now what your up against.

Only one tip is watch the arrow for the direction of the air flow. They should face into the cabin (towards the back of the car not the Bonnet) I thought this was common sense until I found out when the first time I changed it since owning the car the actual ford technician has replaced it wrong way around (arrows facing bonnet) so there you go its an easy mistake to make, :)

Yeah I saw the arrow when installing the new one. Also had an air con cleaning can that works like a bomb under the rear seat. It's a citrus scented one but that too had made the car smell nice and new again.

Only problem is that the car has lost its ford smell. Can't explain it but every ford I have owned. Has that unique ford smell. Bizarre I know

I know what you mean. Im still looking for some sort of spray stuff to recapture that ford smell. I know for sure I have rules out magic trees air freshner, just not what they used to be in my opinion. I have not tried the air con clean but i must to see how it fairs out.

I used the car pride air conditioning bomb. Very overpowering after the car was done. Very citrusy

I will give that one a try and see what I think of it. You may also be fit to get other scents as well.

Yeah there's loads of different types to choose from. Think I got mine off Amazon as it was cheap. Probably next time I will get some that you spray down the air vents.

Is it a nice scent stoney?

Does it last a good while?

Is it far from the new car scent when you buy a new a car and it has that lovely smell that lasts for weeks

It lasts about a week and smells good to me, the dogs seem to like it too.

I will try that stuff out stoney. Seems well priced as well so worth a shot.
