Swopping A 1.4 For A 1.6, Is It Possible?

Hi everyone, I'm new here, just looking for some advice from those with more experience in modding their Fiestas. I have a 2004 1.4i duratec fiesta, my brother has the 2005 1.4i duratec ghia fiesta, why does he get an average of around 6.2L/100km and I get around 10L/100km? And it's not my driving style, I can go down to 9.2 if I really drive economically, but it's still MUCH higher, is it just engine mapping?

Thanks

Sorry I forgot to add in the main part of my question XD is it possible to just drop a 1.6 in place of my 1.4?

Thanks

I'd guess it's possible but probably much easier to just trade in the car for one with the engine you want.

As for the fuel economy, converting 10L/100km gives 28 mpg which is very low for that car. Unless you're driving everywhere with your foot to the floor there must be something wrong.

But my brother has the same engine in his car, but his came out the year after mine and is the ghia, and his consumption is almost half of mine, is it a mapping thing or actual differences in the engine? Both our cars say "1.4i 16V DURATEC"

You said he gets 6.2L/100km which is about 45.5 mpg. If he's getting that in urban driving I'd be amazed. If you both go for a drive you could fill up before and after and check your economy that way, at least then you know there aren't any different roads or traffic that could cause you to use more fuel.

And as far as I know both engines should be the same, including mapping. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I get about 40-50mpg around Southend from a 1.25 2007 Fiesta. Traffic seems to make it fall. On a run, it gets the same. But I drive around like Miss Daisy, which is saving me a fortune in fuel. Get around 350-400miles per tank (Momentum 99)
