Power is nothing without control .

Undo torx bolts run car with egr plugged in you'd see the fears moving that open & twist the valve.

Cleaned with cleaner & light grease in plastic gears & brass part.

Power is nothing without control .

No torx bolts pn my egr. 1.8 tdci. Anyone knoe how to change the manifold?

Invest in a haynes manual - it will tell you how to do that as well as other useful information

The exhaust manifold bolts onto the engine, the turbo assembly bolts onto the exhaust manifold, if you remove the exhaust manifold the turbo will come with it

on many engines, (including modern Fords) the turbine housing is part of/ cast into the exhaust manifold

so yes, the turbo needs to be removed (from the engine) to remove the exhaust manifold - it may still be bolted to the manifold, if you follow as its basically one big assembly (manifold/ turbo)

inside the turbine housing, there is the VNT (variable nozze turbo aka variable vane) mech this is the bit that gets coked up and sticks/ siezes and can cause too much boost/ limp mode too little boost,+ lag etc

A stripdown and clean rather than a replacement may be sufficient

"Snake oil" fuel additives, EGR cleaner, magical cures or things you pour into the fuel tank or the turbo inlet ("miles" away from the VNT) will do little to help, exept help line the pockets of the fat cats manufacturing/ supplying these products (fuel additives can help clean the fuel system, injectors - not the VNT, though (the bit that goes wrong the most, after the EGR))

the pipes you show are from the compressor outlet, the ones i have seen were black, the orange ones are ok as long as they are not leaking - they look like orange hoses,(instead of black ones) not "repairs" (unless you count replacement hoses as "repairs" ). The black plastic bit between the orange hoses is the resonator

these hare been known to split/ leak (especially the plastic ones, like yours)

Personally i would not replace the EGR valve, just fit a solid EGR blanking plate

Thanks. Would a leaking resonator result in hesitstion problems...just trying to rule things out

You need to describe the "hesitation" in more detail,

Power loss, (turbo) lag or flat spots may be described as "hesitation" - lots of different things can cause these things

a leaking resonator is the same as having a leaking boost hose - lack of boost, increased lag, power loss, smokey exhaust less MPG

Update. After more investigation, i found that the pipe that is underneat the airbox had not been connected properly after a mechanic i used replaced air intak hose for me. I reconnected it and car runs much better. Still occasional slight hesitation but before it was like 30% of the time now i would say less than 5%. Overall the engine seems much smoother and fuel economy has improved. I have just fitted a genuine ford fuel filter to see if i can get rid of the 5%. If anyone else is having the same probkems its worth checking under the airbox. My ..ex mechanic simply pulled up the airbox when he replaced intake hose, and then pushed it back down failing to ensure if the pipe was seated correctly.
