Mk1 Sometimes Will Not Start (Had Much Work Done)

Featured Replies

mk1 1.4 1999.

Hello people hoping for a little help. I have looked through the common faults section but did'nt see any thing that fitted the problem.

This is my mums car. I do have a focus myself, so far no problem apart from a leaking thermostat housing.

The problem is, sometime it will not start this happens when it's been driven then stopped for a short time (like popping into to do the shopping) if it's left for a couple of hours it starts fine.

She has had the AA out 3-4 times and some parts replaced, off the top of my head:fuel filter, damm I cant remember, but a couple of other things too.(not the faul pump that I do know.

Hmm a bit vague I know but maybe some one can help, basically I think she's had the basic check.

Any help much appreciated.

most common reason for this on the mk1 is the coil pack a faulty one or one thats breaking down will cause starting issues as a rule of thumb new plugs new leads and coil pack work ide expect other issues such as stumbling at idle etc
