I think it depends if it goes in as a new order or modifies an existing one.

Mine was a modification so I got a estimated date on the day I ordered.

Its gone in as a new order, the salesman estimated a 10 week wait so I am looking at mid June but got a bad feeling it could be a lot later. :-(

My st3 with all the extra options is a factory new order which was placed on 28th March. My delivery date is June 30th. I'm hoping it will be quicker. I can't sleep with excitement.

I think the part is just faulty on my car, not a recall or anything that I am aware of

Fingers crossed no recall.

Are there any issues to beware of on the mk3 3.5 focus? So when my car comes I can keep an eye on these problem areas from day one!

Such as the sills get blasted etc? On my mk2 I was careful and tried to take care of those areas.

Thanks

Am I right in saying an Automatic Zetec S 1.0 Ecoboost engine is released in September??

Argh, new cat is the same >.<

Fortunately chief tech at my dealer is going up to a Ford meeting on Friday, so he is going to raise the issue there.

We are not getting anywhere fast on the scuff plates either :(

that sucks :(

In regards to that rattle, it reminds me of trouble I had with my old Escort, I could hear a metallic rattling from the engine,

it made more noise coming down off revving (stationary), guy in garage showed me it was the heat shield over the exhaust manifold,

he leaned on it with a hammer and the rattle went away, they said they could just take it off, I said no.

later I removed the heat shield myself and found every bolt on the exhaust manifold was loose,

Months before I'd had the front section of exhaust replaced, and later the exhaust was leaking fumes underneath car,

So basically someone put the bolts on the new exhaust piece, but didn't tighten either end up properly.

I would be so p'd off if it turned out to be a loose bolt somewhere.

Popped in to the dealer on my way to work this morning to let them know that new cat definitely hasn't made any difference.

They said they have just received a broadcast message to say there is known potential for a rattle with this engine. Guy in servicing says it is not a product recall and Ford appears to be handling it on a car by car basis, so I can only assume it does not affect every car, but at least I'm not the only one.

He mentioned from the message it appears to be related to the turbo, or around that area. He thinks maybe the wastegate, which would fit with how and when it does it.

Saw my first Mk3.5 Zetec S in Frozen White and appearance Pack. looked very tidy.

Turns out the turbo used on the 1.5 has a design fault causing this rattle.

The garage is getting hold of the contacts at Ford handling this issue, to discuss the options. Been told they may ask if I want to test a prototype...

You would have thought this design fault should have been picked up during development/testing of the engine/car...

I'm sure bean counters were involved in this decision somewhere along the line, rather than the engineers.

I would have thought so too.

I just hope Ford don't come back and try to fob me off that it is just characteristic of the engine.

Garage reckoned that a lot of people round the country complaining of the same issue though, so hopefully it will get sorted.

Maybe I can get them to fit my scuff plates free for the hassle. Once we work out the best way of wiring them up anyway.

@alexp999 - I have the 180 engine. Glad it's not just me. It'd be good to go to the dealer armed with a bit of guidance, although it sounds like they know a bit about it already. I can't here it when in the car, just on startup.

I'm glad to hear it is not just me either.

Mine was pretty bad over winter on startup and with the window down I can hear it on lift off and also when changing down gear.

I noticed it since I first got the car, but put it down to being new and hoped it would shut up as it bedded in. Guess not...

I've started a new thread to discuss the engine issue, which Ford know exists but are fobbing us off:

Looks like we have a fight on our hands.
