Alarm System

Featured Replies

Recently some very kind person broke into my car, they managed to smash the drivers window and open the door from inside without the alarm sounding! So I've tested the alarm myself various ways (popping the bonnet, sitting inside moving round ect.) But it seems my alarm is none existent. I have an 09 fiesta Zetec and researched I'm supposed to have a factory fitted alarm. Can anyone help or advise please?!

I've got a newer model but I thought if it was deadlocked it couldn't be opened from inside? At least it couldn't when I tried to test my alarm (which never went off either)

I thought that too but sadly not in my models case, the doors are fully functional in deadlock if opened from the inside, highly annoying! Do fiestas not have factory fitted alarms then?

Mine has the perimeter alarm factory fitted, which according to the folk on here will only go off if the door is tampered with and opened somehow without being unlocked. I've never got around to testing it by opening the bonnet but that's supposed to be another time it would go off.

Some models have the alarm system that detects movement inside, you would notice small sensors inside if you had that

If they open the door from the inside double lock was not enabled and alarm only comes on when double locked. Two clicks on the fob lock button. I have mine set to double lock on one click of the fob lock button which also enables the alarm.

I forgot how it's done it's on the forum, something like hold lock and unlock button for 10 seconds

Also although alarm is enabled after double locking, it won't go off immediately if you were to open the bonnet, you got to wait 10 mins or so then try the bonnet and alarm will go off

Unfortunately even when double locked my car doors can be opened from the inside, I've tried it myself testing for an alarm, its really annoying.

I didn't wait 10 mins though I only waited 60 seconds I'll try the 10 minutes tomorrow see if it makes a difference. I've only got 1 sensor inside the car so can't have movement detection, by the sounds of it though I don't even have a perimeter alarm..not good! :(
